China Mobile's Migu Partners with Phoenix for AI-Generated Content in Metaverse and Gaming
On October 28, 2024, in Hong Kong, China Mobile’s digital content subsidiary, Migu, announced a strategic partnership with Phoenix, a decentralized AI infrastructure platform. This collaboration aims to harness scalable AI-generated content (AIGC) for applications in the metaverse and gaming sectors. As the largest wireless carrier in China, with over 1 billion users, China Mobile’s Migu serves a vast audience of over 900 million across its diverse offerings, including video streaming, gaming, and music. The integration of AIGC capabilities is expected to significantly enhance Migu’s focus on innovation in immersive digital experiences and interactive virtual environments.
The development of AI-powered content for the metaverse and gaming presents unique challenges, necessitating a combination of advanced AIGC models for various media types, including images, 3D models, and videos. Phoenix’s DePIN-based elastic AI compute layer, known as SkyNet, along with its suite of ready-to-use AIGC modules within Phoenix GenAI, provides an optimal solution. This technology enables real-time AIGC capabilities, such as text-to-image generation, AI-driven 3D modeling, and the creation of interactive non-player characters (NPCs) utilizing large language model (LLM) chatbot technology.
Furthermore, Phoenix GenAI’s open API platform as a service (PaaS) layer allows Migu’s extensive app ecosystem to access and customize AI-generated content on a large scale, catering to its massive user base. One of the promising applications of this partnership includes the creation of AI-generated NFTs within Migu’s metaverse applications, showcasing the potential of AIGC in revolutionizing digital content creation and user engagement in the evolving landscape of virtual environments.
